The School is fortunate to have specialist teaching in liturgical dance, which many of the pupils take part in throughout the College
At St Joseph’s, we aim to give all pupils body confidence and illustrate the power of kinetic communication, actions speak louder than words! We want to give all the pupils an opportunity for creative and holistic self expression.
We wish to create both a sense of individuality and of community interdependence. We also aim to introduce pupils to the wide variety of dance & movement forms and traditions, (mime, ballroom, ballet, folk & ethnic, jazz & modern).
Dance is specifically timetabled within the curriculum for years 7-9. Extra-curricular dance clubs for all other year groups continue into the 6th form. The PE department hold both dance competitions and general talent shows within the academic year. While there are opportunities for soloist performances, all have an opportunity to participate in College celebrations without audition selection.
