Responsibility in the Sixth Form

All Sixth Form students at St Joseph's College have the opportunity to take on the role of Prefects and Head Girl or Boy from the Spring Term of Lower Sixth onwards

These are highly regarded positions in the school and will require commitment, maturity and the ability to work with a wide variety of people and situations.

Pupils are invited to apply by letter to the Head and the appointment of Prefects and Head Girl or Boy is informed by:

  • Academic progress
  • Leadership and commitment
  • Participation in school life

The Head Girl or Boy and Prefects are appointed following presentations to the Sixth Form and Staff, expressions of preference by the Lower Sixth and finally interview. The Head Girl or Boy and the Prefects will be required to attend regular meetings and public speaking.

Pupils will need to demonstrate good leadership skills and the ability to act fairly and lead by example. The role of Head Girl / Boy and Prefect is recognised favourably by employers and further educational establishments and the skills you develop in this role will undoubtedly better prepare pupils for their future outside of St Joseph's College.
